Olga Magliocco is a native of Galway City. She has achieved a B.A. in Art and Design and a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from CCAM, GMIT Galway. Longlisted for the RDS Awards 2018. Exhibited in: ‘Art of Protest’ at the Kenny Gallery, held as part of the Galway International Arts Festival. ‘Crossing Lines’, at the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, from November 2018 to January 2019. Her work was singled out for special mention on RTE Radio 1’s ‘Arena’ art programme by art critic, writer and lecturer, Declan Long; “This almost 7-meter-tall fabric installation has the 796 Tuam babies’ names on it, listed in a very gentle way and printed on a Hessian fabric which was used as mattress covers in these institutions. This monumental but humble representation is an incredibly touching, tender piece of work”. The Commemorative Memorial is currently being exhibited at Aras Moyola, Upper Newcastle, NUIG, along with paintings and a poem also by Olga Magliocco. “The aim in creating this body of work is to bring the solemnity and reverence of a commemorative site to wherever it is shown”. Olga Magliocco. Olga has paintings in private collections in Ireland, England, Germany and Canada.
